Sweet Pecan Compound Butter
Have you ever wanted to add a little something extra to pancakes or French toast? I made this Sweet Pecan Compound Butter after being inspired by a French Toast breakfast I had in a restaurant over 15 years ago. I was pregnant with my son at the time but I don’t think that had anything to do with the craving to have this over and over again. Well maybe it had a little to do with it. Anyhow, give this recipe a try and let me know what you think.

Toasting Pecans
Toasting or roasting nuts before adding them to a recipe can elevate their texture, flavor, and aroma. There are a few simple methods to achieve this: you can bake them at 350°F on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 5–10 minutes, or toast them in a dry pan over medium heat until their rich, nutty fragrance fills the air. Personally, I prefer the stovetop method, as I’ve lost track of time too often and ended up with burned batches in the oven! Be careful not to over-toast—nuts can go from perfectly golden to burnt quickly if left unattended. Your entire house will smell burnt for hours too, not appetizing.
Chop & Mix Ingredients
Once you have chopped your toasted pecans mix all ingredients, taste to make sure it is sweet enough for you.

Serving Suggestions
If you are making this in advance I highly recommend transferring to a air tight container or wrapping in plastic wrap to prevent any unwanted changes in flavor. Onion scented Sweet Pecan Compound Butter is not very good. When I am being extra fancy or hosting a brunch I transfer my butter to silicone candy molds like below.
You can find the pumpkin mold on amazon here or the candy shapes here.
