“I come from a long line of women who just figure things out.”

I’ve said this countless times to people who ask how I know what I know or how I manage to create the things I make. It’s honestly the best way I can explain myself. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been figuring out how to make our home decor beautiful, recipes that are family friendly, holidays that are magical, and creative DIY projects that make our house a home.

As a kid, we had a rule at home: whoever cooks doesn’t have to do dishes. Well, I hate doing dishes, so guess who started cooking at age six or seven? Over time, I graduated from kid-friendly meals to doing everything I could from scratch. I especially loved tackling complex recipes just to wow my family. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to learn from many wonderful people, each of whom has taught me valuable lessons in the kitchen, and I can’t wait to share those tips with my readers. My husband, Mike, and I have been married for nearly 16 years. Our daughter, Megan, is about to turn 21, and our son, James, is 14. It’s hard to believe how quickly they’ve grown up. Adjusting to this new phase of motherhood has been a challenge—funny how you forget the exhaustion of the little kid years once they’re behind you! While I miss them being small, I absolutely love watching them grow into the amazing people they’re becoming.

My mom is a retired interior designer, and she involved me in her projects over the years, sparking my own passion for home decor. We have both transformed multiple houses into homes, and my mind is constantly buzzing with new home decor ideas. Working with a small budget has made me pretty creative when it comes to achieving the look I want within my means. By day, I sell furniture by day, helping people put together rooms that not only fit their budget but also feel like home—warm, cozy, functional, and inviting.

This blog was created as a way to share my home decor ideas, favorite recipes, DIY projects, organizing tips, and, of course, everything I love about the holidays. I also want to document the journey of turning our new-build house into a home full of character and charm.
